The Japanese thought of anime we just expanded on it a little.

Uh, no. If I'm remembering things right, Americans were making animated films before Japan was. Japan liked our animation (decades ago, when not many others were doing it) and then did their own thing with the medium. It just so happens that what Japan does with its cartoons these days is radically different from what America typically does with its cartoons in structure and art. It doesn't mean that an American animated show is Japanese just because it's got a planned beginning, middle and end. Otherwise, you could consider Invader ZIM and Sym-Bionic Titan as anime too.

An American cartoon having an art style with large eyes doesn't make it Japanese, either. Otherwise, every Disney Princess film could be considered anime, since everybody has large eyes.

You can quack, but that doesn't make you a duck.

Could have been, wasn't.

And it would probably have been weirder if it had, and thus less popular.

Nah, its just an old argument, we've been over it all before.

It may resemble anime in its art style and some of the plot elements, but it is a western production and therefore not Japanese animation or "anime" as the kids say.

Get off my lawn. XD

Favorite non-anime? .... Hogan's Heroes is really funny, so I could say that. I also though Full House (Korean drama) was really funny (particularly for reasons relating to its production), though I'm not really in favor of the premise.

Edit: someone beat me to responding to ako.

I have to reorder my list a bit because the second season of Sherlock was just fantastic and has shot up the ranking. Although the order mostly depends on what I am currently rewatching or what has a new season out.

Stargate SG1 & Doctor Who
Sherlock (BBC)
Lost
Stargate Atlantis
Sanctuary
Life on Mars
Merlin
The Vampire Diaries
Black Books
Falling Skies
White Collar
Avatar the Last Airbender
Samurai Jack

I'm not much a fan of stargate, though I have to applaud them for their quirky ideas.

Along with Hogan's Heroes, I like the Jack Benny Program.... oh wait, that's also canceled. Are we supposed to come up with something more recent?

I could keep going all day but I will stop there. A while ago the creator of B5 said he was buying back the rights or something. I can't wait to see if anything happens.
