I likes mine...

Scrambled with cheese.

Dead shame I wasn't there. All through-out listening I kept thinking of stuff to toss in. Next episode.

It's funny; when you guys were talking about Wind Waker, I was playing Wind Waker (shut up, I've been doing more important things). XD

Also, I only eat scrambled eggs.

Fried until burninated, for the win. ^_^ (Seriously, though, I like the yolk solid and not liquid.)

I listened to this last night and I don't remember what all the "commandments" were that were mentioned, but if it hasn't already been mentioned then I think that there should be a "sub-commandment" to go with the one about thoroughly testing a game to make sure it works before releasing it to the public:
Proposed Game Design Commandment #8 wrote:Thou shalt design only that which thou art able to program.

I've adopted this policy for The Traveller's Guide right from the beginning -- if I can't program it, it doesn't go into the game. And I dare say that at times it's somewhat changed my originally intended plot.

And Fish, I see you also like the Rankin/Bass version of The Hobbit. :thumb:

Interesting to evaluate my own game based on those criteria:
#7) Nowhere near advanced enough for multiplayer.
#6) Basically everything the player does is fairly closely tied to the plot.
#5) Combat is probably more repetitive than it could be and you have to walk through a few areas a second time, but I think this one isn't bad.
#4) Well, it's a standard rpg. I tried to shake things up periodically.
#3) Heh, I hope this isn't a problem.
#2) I'm crossing my fingers.
#1) My game has... a nice personality?

Scrambled eggs are awesome. :) But you have to cook them with enough salt and pepper. Seasoning is the key to making amazing eggs.

Abhorrent voice acting:

Silent Hill 1
House of the Dead 2
Resident Evil 1

Mostly bad:

Silent Hill 2 (but the story was so incredible, and Mary's acting (yet, strangely, not Maria, despite being the same actress) was really nice... A couple of the monologues were great, especially the full letter, but for the most part...)
Haze

Unbalanced:

Final Fantasy 10: Ha ha ha... Ihateyou. Yeah... It had its moments of good acting, but it had its really bad moments, though... Mostly where they had to speed up the english to fit the timing...
Silent Hill 4: Ranging from flat to great...

Mostly good:
Final Fantasy XII (yet, I'm finding it a lot harder to get into it than X, and I haven't even finished XII yet)
Silent Hill 3

Best voice acting:

Killzone (Killzone had the best cutscenes PERIOD of last Gen, I think)

Metal Gear series minus The B&B corps, The cobras (not counting the Joy), Volgin, Fortune, and maybe Vulcan Raven, but I guess I haven't talked to many Eskimos to know how they talk. Also, I wasn't fond of the change in Mei Ling's and Naomi's voices... Ok, so they're American, so they should have established that from day one. Not change it in Twin Snakes and then keep that with MGS4.

I think it's funny that the guy who plays Johnny in MGS4, Beng Spies, is one of the "voices of TV" when Don LaFontaine isn't working... He's one of those general voice actors who does TV promos and radio ads and voice overs on commercials... I guess they all do that, except maybe David Hayter who spends his time working on screenplays now, like the screenplay for the upcoming "watchmen" movie and the first two Xmen movies.

The install screen thing reminds me of the Mario 64, actually. The opening

About the multi-console thing vs exclusives, remember that Haze wasn't a full exclusive until a few months before its release... But Lair WAS, however, and that was 100x worse than Haze. Haze was just in the middle, and Lair was among the scum of the gaming universe.

Then Graphics... I still play NES games, so I'm not too much of a graphics *somethingrather*, but I also love pretty new graphics... I paid close attention at the PS2 launch, especially when I went to the Metreon in San Francisco a couple months after launch, and there was nothing that impressive (particularly compared to the Dreamcast that was drawing the attention of many of my friends) so when I saw BOUNCER, I was really excited, because it seemed like something was finally coming that would look incredible on the system, something that couldn't be matched by the Dreamcast. I do like pretty graphics. I just also have a good deal of nostalgia, and I most of all have a thing for games with epic stories (which I didn't see at the PS2 launch, either... We had summoner and eternal ring or whatever?? That's about it)

So, yeah... A long way to say I care about graphics, but only so much...

Finally the rules:

1. Same room: If the game has multiplayer, I prefer to be able to play splitscreen... That's about the biggest drawback of UT3 for me (though not having Mods would be bigger)

2. Sprawling, empty worlds... That's why I like old RPGs where you had an overworld map to get from place to place.

3. Repitition... Every game will have some amount of repitition, if it doesn't, it's not a coherent game. I will agree with the QTE thing, though... I mostly hate them... Even in MGS4, where they are much more simple than RE4 for instance, there are a couple of them that just really get on my nerves (having to hit triangle while mashing R1 in the last fight, for instance)

4. Make killing fun... In a game where I have a CHOICE, killing is almost never fun for me... I always feel guilty. When I have no choice, I don't feel guilty. But, yeah, it should be fun. "Darned bats" syndrome comes to mind here... I hate swarms... The little guys in Resistance, the Scarabs in MGS4, the midgets in Kung Fu... I hate them all...

5. Escort Missions nearly always suck, but I have to say... The squad fighting in MGS4 actually worked... Perhaps because it's not AI, but it's all scripted (very little AI that I noticed in MGS4, and I personally think that's a good thing because scripting it means you have more control over its presentation, and the game's never been about the difficulty) First person jumping... Hahahahahhahah... Ha... And space marines... Yeah... Aliens was great, but dear me... Enough is enough.

6. Bugs and overambitious games with an underfunded or underskilled programming team? yeah... Yeah... Being a PS3 owner, I'm faced with this all the time, on nearly every multiplatform game and on around half of the Exclusive games... I hope MGS4 inspires some people to make games that aren't as buggy as a *nameofstatedontwanttoincursomeoneswrathhere* motel.

7. Graphix != innovation... True, but this is a more complicated issue than they portray it, and I don't feel like getting into it. Anymore than I already have, I mean... I prefer solid games with good graphics and a fantastic story to "innovative" games with no story and ok graphics and definitely to super innovative games with no story and terrible graphics... With exceptions, of course... Umihara Kawase is one of my faves, with no story, and nothing special about the visuals, except it looks like one of Darwin's fondest dreams... Also, I'm big on music games, but I place those in a different category altogether...

Ah, another great Gamecast! Having played MGS4 recently I found all this very interesting. :)

Seriously, I liked mine fried. The white should be solid and the yellow runny*. And it should preferably fried in butter for taste.
