The Heart Of The Matter

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."
I Timothy 6:10

The story is told of a farmer who once went to hear John Wesley. He preached that day about money.

His first point was, "Get all you can." "Fine," whispered the farmer to his neighbor. Wesley’s second point was, "Save all you can." "Better still," the farmer said. Then came the third and last point of Wesley’s sermon which was, "Give all you can." "Oh, dear!" groaned the man, "now he has gone and spoiled it all!"

Prayer: Ask God's direction in your decisions about money.

"There are two ways in which a Christian may view his money--'How much of my money shall I use for God?' or 'How much of God's money shall I use for myself?'" ~W. Graham Scroggie
