Madoka Magica is, indeed, an awesome show. Just be prepared for it to rip your heart out and stomp on it.
I enjoyed it a lot, but it was rather heart-rending.

A little under half-way through Fullmetal Alchemist; Brotherhood, and I'm pretty sure it is going to be one of my favs. As far completed series...Gun X Sword.

At first I was baffled how anyone could say Bleach is their favorite anime but then you said you'd only seen season 1 and that answered my question.
Don't worry, if you keep watching it that title will come off your list real quick.
