Cool one, Chibi...it's got a great earthy feel.

Wow! Everyone's entries are so awesome! Mine will probably take a little while to be completed because of work schedule issues.

Whoa! So many new entries! I've got some catching up to do...

Vernhal - Cool choice of colours! All of the flares and the dark background are making your version look quite space-agey. Your work is also impeccably clean and polished, as always ^^

Christian Ronin - It's so neat how all of the textures and colour choices remind me of a stained glass window. The hair is so funky and the wings are simply gorgeous *.*

chibiphonebooth - Excellent shading, you've really brought a sense of volume and three-dimensionality to the figure. I'm liking the earthy tones too, it really suits the background that you used.

Soul Alive - Oo, you used such lovely shades of blue. The bold shading is working quite well and I really like the background, how did you create it? The trees and ice crystals are really cool.

I love how chibiphonebooth and Soul Alive's entries just jumped between the seasons, now all we need is spring and fall

*hopes she hasn't accidentally missed an entry, cue quadruple checking*

I hope that all works out. You've still got about 10 days though, so there's no need to stress. I ought to be starting my version too, come to think of it O_o

LQ - for the background, I did a fill of very pale blue as the absolute bottom layer, and used the spikey brush in the standard brush pack, set on scatter/size variability/color variability on a paler blue and did a couple different layers of snow, increasing the darkness on the 'closer' drifts. I did another set of layers one behind the character and one above, and used that same brush on pure white in varying sizes for the snow. The trees I drew in seperate layers above or behind the snowdrifts with my tablet, using the Sorenson method*.

(*I had several lessons in class last school year from a professor [Sorenson] on architectural hand drawing, including trees and the like)

:edit: and thank you everyone. ^_^

Tricky one there with the toothpaste, but I have got one that will one up you.

Say hello to the first all edible entry.
From her butterscotch dress, to her roast beef wings,
this baby is made entirly out of things I found in my fridge.

Yes, that is salsa on her head, and yes her skin is buttery soft.

Literally.

And who can beat BBQ boots.

Oh yeah.

This is what I call going out in style.

Bye.

Scribs, you are my hero. I miss your cut-and-pasted references to completely random things, but this is so beautifully unique. Only you could have come up with this.

 You know...I thought about mustard and ketchup, but stayed away from perishable pigments for a reason... Scribs, the beef wings are totally gross, but you pushed it farther than I did! I must say, salsa hair is kinda nifty. *tips hat* hehe, it's good to see you around and as outlandish as ever.

*shakes head* Eso, will you look at what you started! ^_~

Yay! Scribs is back! And it would seem that he's moved from surrealist collages to a more sculptural form of surrealism. I have to agree, the meat wings are...interesting O_o

Heheh, good to see you again dude :thumb:

Welcome to the thread Seppuku! That'd be awesome if you join the August Coloring Contest. There's still some time for this month's though, it's open until the 23rd ^_^

Scribs is a hard act to follow, but somebody's gotta do it. My sadly non-edible entry:

My entry will be pushing the deadline, but barring something odd happening, I should be able to finish it. Awesome job LQ! Blue is my favorite color, and you used it beautifully!

Thanks for the feedback all ^^

WHOHOO! I finally did a piece that isn't all night-like and baroque-ish with blinding highlights! That was becoming a bit of an artistic crutch for me ^^;

Also, Meboeck, I could definitely give you a bit of an extension if need be, like a day or so. The contest is closing unusually early this month. Best of luck to ya!

To Esoteric.
I like the texture of yours. And the subtle color variations.

To Vernhal.
Yours is awesome. You picked one of my fav color combinations. (lavender/mint green)
Also i like what you did with the background.

To chibiphonebooth.
I love the eyes and the face. Good job.

To soul alive.
Nice cell shading. And the soft coloring is very pretty.

To Scribs.
Ahh...well...it's very original!

To the_lizardqueen.
@o@ I think this is the most bright color scheme I have ever seen you do.
It makes me feel like I’m outside and need my shades.

PS, Thanks Vernhal you’re sweet!
