April Coloring Contest 2006!

Postby Scribs » Wed Apr 05, 2006 2:30 pm

The time has come again, the coloring contest has returned after a short sebaticle in March. The rules are the same as always, you can do whatever you darn well please with the picture as long as the same basic lines are there at the end. Get to it, and have a good time!

Our art was provided by Vernhal this month, get to it!

Oooh, nice Vernhal! I was wondering if you'd ever put up something for us to color! Sadly wouldn't you know, it came as soon as I promised myself I wouldn't enter for a while in order to get some other work done...

So all you other artists better come up with some good coloring jobs, I mean it! ;)

I've always wanted to try applying colour to art (most of what I do is shaded). Well, I'll give it a go!

EDIT: Oh. Spiffy pic!
Will insert something intelligent here later... maybe

I wouldn't worry too much about it ^^ Generally in the past coloring contest entries have been so different colour wise that it's a veritable rainbow with a crazy variety of creative backgrounds too.

I think personal interpretations rock and I'm not planning on checking the actual colour schemes until I've finished my entry, just to totally weird myself out O_o

correct color has never been a qualification when it comes to judgeing. If I end up judging this (as has been the case in the past) I will not even have looked to see what the colors should be, so just be creative.

Beautiful entry, Shao! I love the characters and the background, too. The red gem/eye looks great too - I love the swirling colours on it. The fur and hair textures are awesome, too.

(I probably won't end up submitting an entry this time around as I'm working on an animation for my course but I still love seeing everyone's entries).

I finally got off of my lazy bum and finished it. Not a personal favorite coloring-wise but I don't feel like fighting anymore with photoshop and my mouse that's in need of a new battery.

It looks great, Ruby!
Yes.... just like computers, Photoshop seems to be your friend and everything is working well until it turns on you! It betrays you!

*cough* *cough*

Very nice colouring there though. :)

(Wow, only two entries? I wish I could've entered this month, but with Regionals next week I can't. Maybe next month - unless I qualify for Nationals.)

(Nice eye, Shao.)

I hope not, I was going to try to whip something up tonight.

Well, I guess I'll go ahead with it and hope that I'm not too late to enter ^^;

Phew! My entry is finished. It's a wee bit rushed but an entry is an entry and a promise is a promise.

After tackling this piece of lineart, I must say that my hat is off to Shao and RubyJewelStone and their excellent renditions :thumb:

Aww, and here I was hoping people would attribute any photorealism in the background to my mad computer coloring skillz ^_~

I finished school last Friday and I'm sleeping, and eating, and actually having free time again! ^.^

Well, that is when I'm not at work and having to go to a 'History of Design and Advertising' course during the evenings twice a week. Still, I'm falling back into summer mode and trying to work on some personal world building projects that have been in limbo throughout the year. And you guys'll definitely be seeing alot more of me during the coloring contests *plots*

Oo, and I actually kind of understand Photoshop and all the Adobe stuff now! Though I think I've probably only just scratched the surface thus far, there's so..many....menus O_o
