Say, what's up with these spams all the sudden? I don't recall seeing so many come in at such a short time or maybe I just happen to be present when they make their appearance(?).

I've seen a lot worse on CAA, but it is really annoying. I don't know how they can spam so easily!

Yeah, spam's been cropping up a whole lot lately. Mith has figured out new stuff to prevent spammers from being able to post as easily, though, so hopefully it'll stop being such an obnoxious problem.

Have you guys ever thought about installing a honeypot on the site? I've got one on mine, and it would certainly be worth looking into.

HoneyPot looks very promising! Sure hope it lives up to it's name or at least works.

Hmmm... We don't get much in the way of spam EMAIL, more the spam posters (shooby's worked up some fairly stringent filters). I'm not sure the Honeypot would help with that one. Are you using it on a forum, MM?

No, but I have noticed odd things in my server logs every now and then indicating possible spam harvester visits -- but thankfully the attempted visits have always been to files that don't exist on my server anyway. But, one doesn't know whether it'll catch anything unless one tries, right? :) (I never did figure out how to run a forum off my own server... )

There's probably something similar out there for forums, but I haven't found anything yet. I'll keep looking, though.

Dunno if this will help or not, but one of the mods at another forum said they were using this. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks for the tip, Nate! It looks cool, but there's a version issue. :(
