As I'm sure some of you have noticed, the server was offline most of yesterday, and has been up and down all morning today. Apparently SBC came in and cut my lines yesterday for no real reason. Needless to day, I am NOT a happy camper. Service on all websites hosted by Eirewolf Creations will continue to be up and down until I can get my ISP to service my lines.

I estimate the server will be back up and running both faster and more stabilly (heh, heh) in the next few weeks.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The CAA server was off-line for a few hours last night. Judging from post dates/times, it was down from about midnightish until I kick started it around 9:30 this AM.

My apologies for not getting to this sooner - I have company who are staying in the room I use to access the box.

Just a heads up - we had a quick server reboot while I took care of some stuff on the back end. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Well that was a fun morning. Our ISP upgraded our copy of PHP last night without bothering to tell anyone. That upgrade involved removing some of the symbolic links that they put in place some time ago. As a result, the extensions to php stopped loading. Small things. Like the ability to talk to the database, process perl compatible regular expressions, etc.

:eyeroll:

Oh well. It look like we're back up and running. I'm sure the 10 hours of down time didn't kill anyone. And if it *did* kill you, please don't tell me; I can't take extra stress in my life right now. XD

How bizarre! I wondered what was up with that last night. XD No worries over here, though--there were no casualties on my end. XD Either way, thanks for fixing it! XD

Ah, now I see what happen. I thought that the board had a new all white theme, I mean it did look like it would work wonders for the bandwidth.

Hey everyone,

We ran into a bit of a problem with the database last night. I've done some extra special stuff behind the scenes, and hopefully this has addressed the issue. If you notice things not working right, please post a note in the "comment box" forum with whatever details you can provide. THANKS!

Uh oh. Some functionality appears to be broken. Don't try and change your avatar or user image pics for a while, OK? I'll have to take a long look at this a bit later...

Update: Looks like the image stuff is back up and running. Have fun, guys!

After a few hours of monitoring, it looks like things are humming right along quite smoothly. Unless I hear from anyone, I'm going to assume that everything is working fine again. If that's NOT the case, you'd better post something in the comment box for me. XD

Well we had a bit of a database melt down this evening, so I took the opportunity to apply a security patch and reboot the box. We should be OK again, but the board may be really slow and laggy for an hour or so. Please be patient, OK?

Thanks!

I believe you told us to post here if we were still having issues to this point.

I'm unfortunately not able to run anything while the chat is on over here and it's still going nuts.

So you are having this issue now, but you were not before the outage? And to clarify - you are unable to do anything at all on your computer when the chat is running?

Hey everyone,

Over the last few months there's been some pretty serious slow downs on the server from time to time. To help try and abate some of that, I was forced to reboot the server this evening. Sorry to those of you who were knocked off this system while we were trying to get things back up and running!

If the slowing continues, I may have to dig a bit deeper and do some more in-depth work on the server. Hopefully that won't be the case, but I'll keep an eye on things just in case.

As you've probably noticed, the system didn't stay up too terribly long. So I had to do a little more digging. >.< I've had to do some work on the back-end of the system, which should hopefully help speed things up. If THIS doesn't work, I've still got a few more tricks up my sleeves, but it will either mean the removal of everything more than about 5 years old, or will be quite a bit more expensive.

In any event, I'll keep you all posted.

I was curious, did the new holiday graphics affect the loading process at all?

Totally unrelated as far as I know. The only lag that they could cause is on the users side as they replace the ones people have in their caches.

Looks like we're seeing more problems with the system. We were down for an hour or so tonight. We should be back up and running now, and I'll be monitoring the system for a bit.
