Meet the 5 finalists for the female leads in the new Spider-Man movie

Postby Roy Mustang » Wed Oct 06, 2010 11:00 am

Blastr wrote:Two more actresses have tested for the female lead in Sony Pictures' upcoming reboot of Spider-Man, bringing the total to five. But which role are they vying for—Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane Watson?

According to Deadline, the answer is ... both!

Apparently, Gwen, the love of Peter Parker's life, and Mary Jane, his later partner in romance, will both show up in the movie, and director Marc Webb is looking at all five actresses with the intent of casting one as Gwen and one as Mary Jane opposite Andrew Garfield as Peter/Spidey.

Your finalists are:

Emma Stone

Mia Wasikowska

Dominique McElligott

Georgina Haig

Dianna Agron

I keep getting more excited for this movie. I can only hope that they finally do what they should have done in the first movie.

Stacy? For serious? I'd have picked her for MJ.

I would have too.

The funny thing is actress who have played the blond Gwen were redheads and the actress that played the redhead MJ was a blond.

Stone was never a natural red head but a dirty blond and just went and had it colored red for years.

Mia Wasikowska was great in Alice in Wonderland...would've like to see her in the role.

She's an awesome red, though, and she's got the MJ kind of sass. Also, I loved who they had for Stacy in 3. I think she was about the only thing about the movie I liked.

Before I read that they picked Emma Stone, I was thinking, "She's a shoe-in." I'd be surprised if they didn't pick Mia as MJ, though I really don't think it'd be hard to surpass Kirsten Dunst.
