I got an Idea...

what if we make a manga about a demon who rejected satan and wanted to serve jesus?
but of course satan will try to drag him down and recorrupt him.
he'll have an epic of spreading the word of the lord and try to hide his evil origins. it'll have one HUGE back story.
then he will join the ranks of modern day knights templar hiding his old image and doing his best to "eliminate" corruption that is, satan.

I'll think of more...anyways, anyone like the concept?

I would not be anywhere nearly as derogatory about the situation as Shinja is. Though I would agree the idea needs some work, to make it properly Christian.

Demon returning to God, though? Do you know what that sounds like? The Fall.

If you don't know what that is, it's a story/series of mine. You can read it in the writing section, if you actually care, or want inspiration.

the fall? where did I heard that one before?

well, the demon repents from his old ways and want to be loved both by God and Man.
It'll have a dark undertone being the main character as a demon.

While the idea that demon's can't repent (no free will) is part of orthodox Christian theology, I can see the idea being the basis for an interesting narrative (I mean just think of Goethe's Faust). In terms of other author's work that might be inspirational in this regard, you could try:

Forever Knight- This was a Toronto-based TV series about a vampire seeking a return to humanity. A really, really good series, especially near its end.

Lucretia- this is an animated short by the NFB (National Film Board). Sort of Christmasy, I love it. I've been looking for a transcript of the poem, so far without success.

On the lighter side, you could also read "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Cut him a bit of slack. Not all projects can be continually worked on.

:brow: wow, lotsa ideas from everyone. I understand the excitement of coming up with something "unusual" (everyone's bored with stereotypes and overused formulas) but just remember the true Christian message you're representing in whatever you do, ya? I mean this in a gentle and kind way. Pray....just pray. The Holy Spirit will always give you an inspiration or idea to work on.

Alright, here's how I've revamped your idea, ninja. All I did was use a human instead of a demon! I usually don't like to deal with angels/demons. ^^ Everyone knows I'm super busy BUT if we have other artists and writers working on it, I think I can help.

******************************************
There's a powerful human being/warrior(?) who can't remember his past (amnesia formula reused hahaha!). All he remembers now is that Satan is the King of the Earth and therefore, he serves him and carries out all his evil plans. He collaborates with demons (he can see and talk to them) WITHOUT realizing that it's actually wrong. But one day, our hero...ahem I mean protagonist experiences something that triggers back memories (haven't figured exactly what yet). Memories of himself knowing another King in his life. memories of him experiencing joy, peace, truth, wisdom...

"Aarrggghh it's too much to bear...it's so confusing!" He hasn't heard of such words before. Or at least, it doesn't make sense. And yet, they are so....comforting. Makes him feel good and calm inside. Safe. What is this feeling?! This sudden yearning?

Our protagonist keeps doing Evil but as each day goes by, he starts to detest His own actions...asking "Why? Why must I kill other humans? Why must I cause blood to flow? Why am I feeling awful about it?" His erm...evil buddies start to notice a change coz his fighting skills drop dramatically and loses confidence in his missions. "Ok, time to 'recharge' him," one of them says.

"Hey, protagonist, we noticed that you're getting weaker lately. Come with us, we want to help you become the strong warrior you were before." [Brainwash, anyone?] Protagonist gets an sudden "spiritual" alert and runs!

"Oh no! Why am I running? What am I doing? I just heard a small voice in my mind say, "Run, run! Quickly get away!" This is crazy but I just don't want to go back to my old self. I can't. I've got to know who I'm supposed to be."

To be continued.

********************************************
.....I predict much struggles, angst and tribulation for this poor dud who's searching for his true identity. He fights to discover and find out his past, while fending off the bad ones. The evil kingdom is super peeved coz they just lost one of their 'best pieces.' "Evil Boss/Lord storms "Find him find him!!!! Find him before the Holy one does!" Of course, you all already know the ending. It's biblical. ;) It's the "journey" that's gonna be the story in a fantasy type setting.

 What does everyone think? Is it Christian enough now?

The realm of the spirit is a dangerous place to go. I would caution you on this because it can lead to something like Chrno Crusade. I would agree with going for the human idea instead. Angels are nothing like us. They have a different way of thinking. Remember that angels and demons alike do not have souls like we do. They are of a different realm. We are less powerful yet more special to God. I think that is why it is important to concentrate our efforts towards humans. I mean, who can sympathize with a demon when they don't eve know what it's like? I hate to be a downer though. On the other side, I would encourage this venture and maybe be willing to help it along art wise. I only speak from experience. I could never write well but I have tried that way. Just be careful. Let God guide you, or you may become trapped or confused. Not that you are weak or anything. Anyway, good luck and God Bless. I AM NOT BASHING YOU! PLEASE BE ENCOURAGED! PLEASE DON'T LOSE HOPE! GOD BLESS YOU!

Supa Dupa, I think Mave has a good idea! ^-^ It goes very well with yours!

I had an idea that resembled yours in one of the stories I'm thinking about, but it was for a secondary character.

Horrah! Mave hast hit the nail upon the head of it. That really sums up the Christian walk. Sinner to Saved to Completely NEW Person. This is one of the first ideas I've heard that could actually use the old man to new man example in its true context. GOOD IDEA Supa Dupa Ninja Mave. LOL. You guys are really using your brains and sound really excited about this idea. I hope God turns it into a reality. Lord knows we need all the Christian support at this time in the world. God bless!

Volt wrote:BUT in a way...I can see it as being open minded...i don't think the main character should be a demon...maybe a confused angel caught in between the rebelion having equal amounts of angelic freinds on both the Rebelious and Loyal Sides of the Luciferinian Rebelion. He can be a Gothic Angel??? Hey there's the TITLE! An angel that's stuck in between making a chioce, and so...(pause)...well it's your idea...shouldn't you finish it?

I like Volts idea. But if you really want a demon as the main char. maybe you could try using a half demon instead. Just a suggestion. That way he would have a choice in what he does.
