Manga to put it simply is just a black and white Japanese version of American comics but is read from right to left instead of the other way around. The obvious difference is the art style of anime.

Manga literally is just the word "comic" in Japanese, used by fans of the genre to differenciate between western styled comics and those comics produced in Japan.

Like Korean comics are called/labeled "manhua" eventhough they are essentially "manga styled". And now "manga" would be discribing the style itself, regardless if a japanese person made it or not.

Manga is the still-side of anime to put it bluntly. ^^
