Shelter of Wings Manga

Postby Souba » Mon Feb 05, 2007 10:50 pm

Hi,
I just finished reading Volume 1 of Shelter of Wings. I've known Lisa for years and I know that she has been working very hard on this book for while now so I expected it to look good but I was even more impressed at how professional and beautiful the artwork is. ^^ The story is interesting and has some pretty fun moments. Well ok my opinion migt be a little biased sooo...
Anyone else have a copy yet? If so what did you think about it?
God Bless,
Souba

I've heard about the concept but haven't seen it yet. Is it good? I'm interested to know.
Hope I can get a copy as well. Not only to support Christian manga, but also since I've liked what I heard about it. Course, I'm in NZ... so I might have a little trouble. ^_^"
Can you order it online, is it in book stores, or where else is it available? o_O

Excellent. Maybe I'll be able to get a copy there. ^_^
But I am able to get items from bookstores in America; I know someone who goes up there quite often. And I'm also interested to know whether it's being sold in your average bookstore. So... is it being sold in stores as well? I'm curious. o_O

<EDIT>Oh, one last thing. Is it a self-contained story, or the first part of a series?

I have vested interest in this graphic novel, so to speak, so I'll step up as far as information goes. This is something I can endorse seriously, and if you are interested in the infant field of Christian manga I suggest supporting the title.

Brethren's website: http://www.brethren-et.com/BEWebsite/index.html
Shelter of Wings website: http://www.brethren-et.com/SOW/sow.html

I haven't seen it in one as of yet.

The latter.

Thank you very much for that information. ^_^ I'm definitely all for supporting Christian manga, especially a title which, from what I've seen so far, is done with a lot of hard work and at proffessional quality. Something like that deserves our support, in my opinion. Especially since the majority here at CAA are christians, and a lot of us enjoy manga.

Wow! I was wondering when this was going to come out. ^__^

People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared

Unfortunately, the only place I've seen it sold is at Brethren Entertainment's website. I keep meaning to buy it but haven't really had much money lately to buy anything.
Has anyone else seen it in stores? As far as I can tell, outside of the net it's like the book doesn't even exist... which is annoying - Christian manga will never get a real start until the average shopper sees it in a store. In my opinion, anyway.

That's a shame, if it can't be found offline. V_V *Sigh* Well, at least if I order a copy from the Bethren website they'll probably post overseas. Though I will have to factor in exchange rates and everything, lol. But I think the manga looks good, so it's worth a buy. =^_^=

That's essentially true (and note the relative popularity of a mainstream title like Serenity). However, a small company such as Brethren can't simply waltz into major department chains with a product. Though this may not be a "real start" it's probably a necessary beginning.
