Basically anything in the "Gospel" genre, that is, from soft hymn to metal.

I have a very small selection of music of music that is 'secular'...
All of them are inspirational in some sort of way.
And by "very small", I mean these six songs:

Boys Like Girls' "Go"
Billy Joel's "Why Should I Worry?"
Apocalyptica's "Broken Pieces"
Escala's "Palladio"
David Cook's "The Time of my Life" (this was my high school graduation song)
and Tim Mcgraw's "I've Got Friends That Do"

Quick Facts:
- Emery is my favorite band

- Escala's Palladio is my favorite song (played over 600 times so far)

- Flyleaf and Fireflight alike hold songs with some of my favorite lyrics ("Set Apart This Dream", "Red Sam" and
"What I've Overcome", "Brand New Day" being the two from each band that come to my head)

- I love lyrics that are bold in telling a story

- Emery's "The Question" has held the place of my favorite cd for three (almost four) years,
for it's dynamic in storytelling that spans the whole album and for its creative value in lyrics and just being upfront, true, and honest about life in a way that I can relate.

- Seventh Day Slumber's song, "Caroline" inspired me to write a novelette two years ago, which I just rewrote into a full-sized novel during NaNoWriMo last month.

- Sidewalk Prophets and Aaron Pelsue Band are the two bands that help me get away and refocus on God when needed.

- Demon Hunter's "Turn Your Back and Run" always sends chills down my spine, and wakes me up to the reality of the human condition when I find myself becoming desensitized.

- There was a time, several years back, when Skillet's "Collide" was too "hard" of rock for me.
That cd began my exploration into harder rock music, alternative rock, metal (about four years later), and overall 'darker' music with deeper meanings, interpretations, and story.

Anything except modern country music (I.E. that rock-ish, twangy, Hawaiian guitar stuff), top 40 pop music, and gangster rap (although I can handle a song or two). Seriously though, pretty much everything else I enjoy greatly, from this to this.

Rock of all kinds, basically.

But I like music from almost every other genre except for older music, jazz/blues, and most country music.
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

There appears to be this giant consensus that rock is favored and obviously modern country is not.
I'm not going to go against the grain on that, though I will say that I like some songs from Asleep at the Wheel (some of which I know are based off of old country, lol).

My taste:
Orchestral, even jpop or prog rock if arranged well.
Jazz - Brubeck and Guaraldi, imho the best or at least the most pleasant for my mind. :D
- God is always with us, especially when we feel most alone.

Isn't Corey the male equivalent?

I like primarily rock, alternative, indie, acoustic type stuff. From time to time I also like punk rock, selected metal and rap, jazz, ska...
Everywhere like such as, and MOES.

Yeah I would have said that, but it sounds odd.

But then, if you think about it, the phrase sounds odd when I say it anyway. XD
