What is Steam? Steam is a free program from Valve (makers of Half-Life) that allows you to not only purchase and download PC games (plenty of free stuff too), but connect with your friends in games via IM, groups, and chat. With the new groups feature, the gamers at CAA can plan events, such as: tournaments (with spectators), game nights, launch parties, and much much more! It's almost like an online clan, but for all games!


Any CAA PC gamers (casual and hardcore) are welcome and encouraged to join.

How do I to join?

-Step One: Download Steam from (completely free!): http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=getsteamnow


-Step Two: Join the Beta by opening up Steam. Then, go to the View menu, select Settings, and go to the Account Tab. You should see Beta Participation. Finally, select The Steam Community, and reset Steam.

-Step Three: Post your Steam nickname here or PM it to either Omega Amen or myself. We will add you as soon as possible. That’s it!


We have big things planned for this, but we can only do it with your participation! Join today!

For clarification purposes, I feel I should also mention a few other things.

We are using the Steam Community features and website as a meeting place for CAA gamers who play PC games to meet and play each other more easily (or even just to chat a bit). These can be non-Steam games as well, such as games made by Blizzard, for example. So the community's activities do not have to be restricted to solely Steam games.

Link and I also understand that not everyone is interested in playing the latest first-person shooter that will make a regular PC croak. We will look for games on Steam that should cater to the tastes of gamers on CAA but does not require a high-end system. For example, we believe that Puzzle Quest (a puzzle/RPG hybrid game) will be available for downloadable purchase on Steam in the near future with multiplayer features, and nearly any regular PC should be able to run it easily since it is essentially a 2D game. It is also a game we think that any CAA gamer would have a blast playing it, especially with other CAA members.

Finally, the reason that Link and I have to add you to the group is ensure that you are actually a CAA member and not some random troll looking to cause trouble in the Steam group. A lot of members like the maintained civility of the boards, and we just want to ensure that is transferred over to the Steam community.

I also highly encourage everyone to check out what the Steam Library holds. There is a LOT available. Not just FPSes like Omega said. Most games are also at a pretty affordable price and won't cost you too much.

Audiosurf Challenges

In an attempt to foster a more competitive spirit, and taking advantage of the awesomeness that is Audiosurf, I have been creating Audiosurf Challenges, where I play a legal free-to-download song and challenge members to beat my score.

In order to keep track of the challenges, check out the CAA Steam Community page (in Steam or in your web browser) for info and upcoming challenges.

Right now, the way the challenge is run is pretty basic. If you have suggestions on songs or other ideas, contact me or Link.


Steamcards are teh awesome. You want.

Take a look at my sig, and you should notice the Steamcard. Like mygamercard.net has been generating Gamercards for Xbox360, a site has started creating Steamcards!

Hmm, never noticed this thread before. I don't play much lately but my SteamID name is Jibb-Jibb. I generally play TF 2 and thats about it (I never even touched the other games in the Orange Box... everytime I'd open it I'd say meh, I'll play those later). I'm just in the middle of getting a new computer though... I still need to get bootcamp and windows before I can play it again (just got a MacBook Pro ^_^)

Ingemar, Scarecrow, I need to add you as friends in order to send the group invites, and the names that you gave me apparently are not your account names since I cannot add you as friends.

Best way to resolve this is to PM me, or if you prefer, post your steam account names here.

In order to find your account name, go to the File menu, select Settings, and look for your Account Name in the Account tab.

I will contact Link when I catch him online, and I will tell him to correct our instructions in the first post.
